I started the school year with this book because of the positive reviews it received on Amazon.com.  The first few lessons seemed really boring to me but by Lesson 5 I understood why it was important to teach in this strange style.  We just finished Lesson 15 today and my 5-year-old is actually starting to read and my 3-year-old is speaking better.  WOW!!  I can’t wait to see what the results will be after Lesson 30.   Will my 5-year-old really be a solid reader after 100 lessons?  I’ll keep you posted.

Atlantic Strings Violin Shop is having a Back to School Sale!  You can get a child’s violin, bow, case and rosin all for $109.00 + tax.  We went this week and had my eldset son Ephraim fitted for one.

I created a new Kindergarten Plant Theme page.  This is basically what we did for the past two weeks for science.  My children learned all about planting seeds, what it takes to make a seed grow and toured the botanical gardens for a field trip.

We just got this awesome DVD a couple of days ago and my kids love it!  It engages the kids to learn all their alphabet letters and sounds with this catchy song:

The A says “aaaa”
The A says “aaaa”
Every letter makes a sound
The A says “aaaa”

My kids even walk around the house singing it.

The DVD is fun to watch over and over again because it has a lot of humor, interesting characters and is only 35 minutes.  I highly suggest you buy this if you have a preschooler at home.

My kids are watching it for the third time today.

I will try the LeapFrog – Talking Words Factory next.
